Moores unique take on sledging (August 02nd, 2007)

Moores says that they have even approached the match referee with this offer; we will have to wait and see what they actually decide on.

Here is an entirely different take on the issue of sledging, jellybeans and shouldering issue. England’s Coach Peter Moores wants players to be allowed to sledge and the stump microphones to be turned off during the match! The viewers and audience does not get to hear what is transpiring between the players out in the center. “There are some things that are best left on the field, to be fair to the players” says the English Coach. He wants the players to go out on the field and play without worrying a bit about what they are uttering there on the field.

Moores says that they have even approached the match referee with this offer; we will have to wait and see what they actually decide on. According to ICC guidelines the stump microphones must be turned on when a ball is live. A ball is said to be live when a batsman takes guard and in between a bowler’s run up to the wicket to the time the ball is delivered and reaches or passes the batsman. Moores stood by his players who exercised their vocal chords against India on the field.
