PCB bars its players from joining ICL (August 06th, 2007)

CL has singed several big international names like Brain Lara to play in the langue and talks are on with players like Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, and Stephen Fleming among others. Pakistani players Shoaib Malik, Sahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar have been approached by members of the Indian Cricket league to play for them in a Twenty20 series in October.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has barred all its current and former players from joining India’s rival league ICL. Naseem Ashraf, the PCB Chairman said this on Thursday. “ICL is not a recognized body by the ICC, so there is no question of nay player going on to join the league” said Naseem. Ex Pakistan Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was approached by members of Indian Cricket league and he was supposed to join soon if the terms suited him.

Any player who deiced to play for the league will not be considered for selection to the Pakistani team said the chairman.
